Wanale ridge is a hilltop is located Mbale town (in the eastern part of Uganda) at a distance of about 7 Kilometres literally lying at the foot hills of ridge. It is visible to even the neighbouring districts of Tororo, Bukedea and Bududa. Wanale hill is usually mistaken to be apart of mountain Elgon though it is within it’s neighbourhood.
Day 1 : Trip to Mbale
Set off from Kampala with a drive through Mabira forest, the largest forest in Uganda. We shall then cross the river Nile in Jinja with a stopover for brunch before proceeding to Mbale. Upon reaching Mbale we shall take a hike to the top of Wanale hill and camp on it for the night.
Day 2 : Khaukha Cave and Return Trip to Kampala
We shall make and eat our breakfast and then take hike through a trail at the western end of the ridge that will lead one to Khaukha cave, which is the most prominent cave.
